Today, ADWEEK reported that one of the original founders of Youtube is backing video startup, Vidyard. The idea being that Vidyard is a Youtube for business solution meaning you have a little more flexibility including:
- Unbranded Video Player
- Avoiding Corporate Firewalls
- Controlling content that surrounds the video.
- Clear next steps (Actually purchasing a product, etc.)
- Improved Metrics like attention span and minutes viewed
- & More
I’ve run in to all these issues with clients before and they are certainly issues. I haven’t actually tried it yet but he beauty of Vidyard seems to be that you can actually play videos from Youtube and reap all the benefits that come with the platform while controlling the environment around your videos and the before mentioned pros.
It seems like more of a supplement rather than a full on solution. I’m actually surprised Youtube hasn’t implemented some of these features on their own, it seems like a guaranteed source of revenue.
At AboutFace we use Youtube, Vimeo Plus, Vimeo Pro and Brightcove, Tubemogul as well as a custom reels program that we built for internal and client review before videos are actually live. And then we compile our metrics from a number of different third party vendors. All this can be very confusing but is absolutely necessary.
Do you have any experience using Vidyard? What are your thoughts?
